Acuity Trading has recently released its Topic Attention model, which can detect over 200 latent topics from news stories. We show how to use these topic attention scores as alternative data to feed as inputs to state-of-the-art machine learning and econometric models for enhancing the nowcasting of important macroeconomic variables such as GDP.
